M4H Volunteers
There is no doubt, Models for Heroes would not be able to function without its dedicated volunteers. Our volunteers are the most enthusiastic, empathetic and enduring human beings with time to spend on others.
- We offer all of our volunteers access to a subsidised 2 day Armed Forces Mental Health First Aid course. The course provides volunteers with the awareness and the confidence to provide immediate support to a beneficiary presenting with mental ill health.
- Volunteers are also guided by robust policies created in alignment with the best practices set out by the National Council for Voluntary Organisations (NCVO). We also ensure volunteers are protected by public liability insurance cover at twice minimum level recommended by the NCVO.
The Committee
Models for Heroes committee are made up of 9 Directors who are legally responsible for the management of Models for Heroes. Each has a unique skill, career and experience to bring to the the boardroom. They meet 6 times a year to ensure the organisation operates efficiently and is focused solely on its charitable aims.Ambassadors
Our amazing ambassadors have seen first hand the power of model making as a curative activity and work hard to promote our cause beside professional endeavours….
LIAM DEMPSEY
Former Corporal, Aircraft Technician.
"As an ex-service person, and considering how I utilise the hobby, Models for Heroes was an organisation I felt I could 100% get behind. Their dedication to the mental health and wellbeing of both current and ex-service personnel as well as those in the emergency services is unquestionable, and their methods are in line with my own experiences. It’s for these reasons that I can, without doubt, say I’m proud to be an ambassador of this incredible charity.”
MATT HARDING
Former Lead Nurse for Inpatient Mental Heathcare at Southern Health NHS.
"One of my favourite things about Models for Heroes is that as a concept it's beautifully simple but I've seen first hand how beneficial it is. Not only does give people an enjoyable activity to help them get some time out from their troubles, but it puts them in touch with like minded people they can spend time with to enjoy the hobby and each other's company."
MEL BOSE
Former Private, Combat Medical Technician.
"My hobby helped me get through my mental health issues, and in doing so, gave me a platform to raise awareness of mental health issues. Being an ambassador for Models for Heroes pulls together everything I've being doing in the past but focused in a way where I can help many more people than I could alone."
MARK STONELAKE
Former Gunner, 29 Commando Regiment
"Models For Heroes has been set up
to help people focus on a new goal when they
have been affected by PTSD anxiety or depression."
